My Decor Style: Eccentric Old Woman

There is solid reason to believe I have a prematurely geriatric soul.

If dressing up in slightly eccentric old clothes, wanting to dye my hair purple, wearing lipstick to social functions, never knowing how to work people's televisions and listening to oldies qualifies you as a senior citizen ...well let's just say, I'm about ready to start ordering from the discounted section of restaurant menus.

My old-lady-ism is largely apparent in my home decor.

Why? I love knick knacks. I love old things and thrifted things and charming things and eclectic things. I love afghans and teapots and flowers in green glass bottles. (I collect green bottles by the way. It just started happening one day and never stopped.)

You got a sneak peek into my living room in this post, and I wanted to share a few more treasures in my casa that make me oh-so-happy. Yes, I recently made that mosaic table and refinished that lamp. Yes, I will post a tutorial or something in the near future. Yes that's a small pig statue sitting on the table. Absolutely, it's OK to decorate with a brave little toaster in the living room.

Do you have a specific decor style you're drawn to?

Your home looks absolutely charming. And I'm with you on the whole old lady thing -- lipstick and old clothes are a must. Purple hair is also neat, and nothing discombobulates me more than attempting to work a television set. :)

i adore your house. i also collect glass bottles. not green specifically, but i have yet to do anything with them yet so they're just chilling in a box waiting to be used.

I dig the winged pig. John Steinbeck's motto was "To the stars on the wings of a pig." ("Ad astra per alia porci.")

I'm obsessed with that bike on your wall. And I still can't get over the awesomeness of brave little toaster.

My decor style is very eclectic. We're talking Buzz Lightyear sheets, Disney Princess garbage can, a gross looking chair that I never finished stripping so I could paint it bright yellow, an empty frame or two (that are really photo props) and an art collection that could rival most grandma fridges. (Oh, and of course the pile of laundry that I never ever put away. Living out of laundry baskets FTW.)

I have that same bicycle wall hanging! #kindredspirits
I like to describe my style as grandma chic. Old stuff makes me GIDDY. Macklemore said it perfectly: "I'ma take your grandpa's style, I'ma take your grandpa's style, No for real - ask your grandpa - can I have his hand-me-downs?"

Wow girl! You've got a lot of little treasures in your home! I have a very simple taste. My house growing up was full of stuff, collectibles and what nots so I think since having my own home I like the clean, simple look. It's just different and so far from what I was used to.
